The faculty mentor for this position will be Dr.WEN LIN SUN. A Post-doc position is available for studying the neuropharmacological mechanisms underlying cocaine addiction in the Department of Pharmacology at University of Tennessee Health Science Center. Although tremendous progress has been made in understanding the neural mechanisms underlying various aspects of cocaine addiction, the mechanism underlying the compulsive nature of cocaine-addiction remains unclear. Understanding such a mechanism will be critical to development of effective prevention and treatment strategies against cocaine addiction. An integrated approach combining behavior, pharmacology, electrophysiology, and molecular biology is adopted to address this challenge. We are seeking candidates who are highly motivated and have an interest in developing a career in drug addiction research field. Qualifications: Candidates with a Ph.D. degree in pharmacology, neuroscience, or psychology are encouraged to apply.
