A position for a postdoctoral scholar is available in the School of Pharmacy at Oregon State University On February 1, 2015 to develop and evaluate novel nanotechnology-based platforms for the imaging and cancer therapy. Our laboratory is located in the new Collaborate Life Sciences Building (http://www.ohsu.edu/xd/about/vision/collaborative-science-building.cfm) on Portland’s famous South Waterfront. As an interdisciplinary group, we are looking for creative and motivated individuals excited to discover and strengthen new approaches and paradigms in nanomedicine.
Recent Ph.D. graduates in pharmacy, chemistry or related biomedical sciences with a strong research background in polymer chemistry, cancer biology or nanomedicine (nanoparticle development. Candidates with a background in biomedical engineering, material sciences, chemical engineering, or polymer engineering are also encouraged to apply to develop novel nanomaterials for biomedical applications. The successful candidate is expected to have research experience in the design and synthesis of diagnostic/imaging and therapeutic nanomaterials, modification of biomolecules for bio-conjugation, cell culture, and animal (mice) work. The successful candidate will be expected to conduct research independently while working together as part of a dynamic multi-disciplinary team. Applicants should be self-motivated, dedicated, adaptable and capable of multitasking.
A Ph.D. in pharmacy, bioengineering, chemistry, or related disciplines is required. Candidates should have a research experience in the biomedical nanoscience or related fields with publications demonstrating achievements. Candidate is expected to have leadership skills, the ability to coordinate research activities. The candidate should have excellent English speaking and writing skills in order to communicate effectively within multidisciplinary research teams and with external collaborators. The successful candidate should possess the ability to work independently and maintain effective attention to detail, meet deadlines, and prioritize competing demands.
