Position Description: A postdoctoral position is available to develop new delivery/targeting systems for cancer treatment. These systems are for parenteral application of a new class of vinca alkaloid drugs designed to target cancer tissue microenvironment. Specifically, this position will be focused on the development and characterization (in vitro and in vivo) liposomal and polymeric micellar formulations culminating in quantifying the pharmacokinetic profile and assessing of the efficacy of these formulations in healthy and cancerous murine models respectively. The research is based on a well-defined project that consists of three stages, first the development of drug formulations, in vitro characterization, and stability. Second, evaluate the anti-tumour efficacy in xenograft and orthotropic murine models. Third, conduct a comprehensive pharmacokinetic study to establish dosing regimen, quantify biodistribution, and model the concentration time profile in blood and the tissue to establish the PK/PD parameters.
Salary is commensurate with education and experience and includes health benefits. The position is for 1 year and can be extended for an additional six months. The position is in the College of Pharmacy-Oregon State University at the Collaborative Life Science Building in Portland, OR.
Minimum qualifications: Ph.D. degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences with focus on drug delivery and formulation with a record of publications in internationally recognized journal.
