Postdoc position is available for a highly motivated individual with interest in vascular/developmental biology to join the laboratory of Taija Mäkinen at Uppsala University. Research in the lab focuses on understanding how endothelial cells lining lymphatic vessels communicate with the tissue environment to co-ordinate vascular morphogenesis and acquire specific functionalities (Dev Cell 2009,17:175-86, J Clin Invest 2011,121:2984-92, J Cell Biol 2012,197:837-49, Dev Cell 2013,15:31-44). The selected candidate will utilise and develop advanced mouse genetic tools and cell and molecular biology techniques to study vascular-bed specific mechanisms of lymphatic vessel formation.http://www.nature.com/naturejobs/science/jobs/485647-postdoc-in-vascular-biology
Applicants should have a PhD and research background in molecular or cell biology, biochemistry or similar, and a strong academic track record along with publications in international journals. Experience with tissue culture, in vivo work and advanced microscopy would be an advantage. Fluency in English, good communication and interpersonal skills, excellent organisational skills and the ability to work as part of an international team are required.
