Multiple Postdoctoral Positions available immediately for highly motivated candidates with a strong background in neurotrauma and neuroscience to join the Shock, Trauma and Anesthesiology Research (STAR) Organized Research Center at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, Baltimore, USA.
Our research is focused on understanding secondary injury processes following traumatic brain injury (TBI) and spinal cord injury (SCI) and to study pharmacological/gene therapeutic interventions for TBI/SCI. For your convenience, here is the link: http://medschool.umaryland.edu/facultyresearchprofile/viewprofile.aspx?id=21538
The successful candidate will join an established TBI/SCI research laboratory and use rat, transgenic mouse and tissue culture models to examine pathophysiological mechanisms and novel treatments, as well as to study the molecular and cellular mechanisms of chronic pain after neurotrauma.
A Ph.D. degree is required with training in neuroscience, behavioral science, two photon microscopy, pharmacology, and/or a related field. Experience with rodent surgical and behavioral experience required, primary cell culture and biochemistry/molecular biology are desirable. In addition, the postdoctoral scholars will be mentored to facilitate their transition to an independent research career through the acquisition of writing and presentation skills and through the development of national and international collaborations. Interested individuals are encouraged to forward an electronic copy of your curriculum vitae and a brief cover letter that includes the name and contact information for three references to Dr. Alan I. Faden (email@example.com).
