Ursinus College seeks to fill a two-year, non-tenure track teaching postdoctoral position with a 2/2 teaching schedule in the Neuroscience Program/Psychology Department starting in Fall 2015. The position is well-suited for a neuroscientist who wishes to prepare for a career of teaching at a primarily undergraduate liberal arts institution that emphasizes excellence in both teaching and research. Preference will be given to broadly trained individuals with an interest in interdisciplinary inquiry and a background in behavioral neuroscience or related fields. Applicants should have recently received or be about to earn a Ph.D.
The successful candidate will teach neuroscience and psychology courses at the introductory and advanced undergraduate levels (Fundamentals of Neuroscience, Behavioral Neuroscience, Advanced Research Methods in Behavioral Neuroscience, Learning, and Sensation & Perception). Additionally, there will be opportunities and an expectation to engage and mentor undergraduate students in research utilizing current faculty members’ laboratories and their animal models (mice, zebrafish, salamanders, or newts). The candidate will be mentored in establishing a vibrant research program and in teaching using active learning techniques including opportunities provided by our
Teaching and Learning Initiative.
