Based in the Edinburgh University Centre for Integrative Physiology, you will be part of a team investigating the role of protein synthesis in fragile X and other neurodevelopmental disorders. The work will include isolation of RNA from distinct neuronal populations, followed by RNA-seq processing and analyses. You will also perform metabolic labelling and immunoblotting of hippocampal brain slice preparations, as well as behavioural testing of audiogenic seizures in mice.
The post requires a PhD (or near completion) in Neuroscience, Cell biology, or a related field, and clear evidence of skilled and independent research capability. Laboratory experience is essential, especially in the areas of RNA isolation, RNA-seq analyses, hippocampal slice biochemistry, data analysis, advanced statistics, and mouse colony management. This post is for 3 years.http://www.jobs.ac.uk/job/AKH488/research-fellow/
