PUBLIC HEALTH DISPARITIES - Full-time Regular, 40 hours-week, Post-doctoral, salaried position. A completed Ph.D or MD in a health disparities related scientific field is required. The primary purpose of this 2-year, post-doctoral, Research Fellow position is to train the Research Fellow in community-based participatory research (CBPR) in conjunction with activities currently being implemented in the Community Engagement Research Core (CERC), Vanderbilt/ Meharry CTSA. This position will focus on 3 overarching areas: CBPR, intervention research, quantitative and/or qualitative research, and contribute to current and future projects.
ACADEMIC MENTORING: The Research Fellow will be co-mentored by an assigned CERC faculty mentor and a Meharry/Vanderbilt Alliance CERC Mentoring Team. Thus, the Research Fellow’s training experience will be enhanced by having access to multiple senior scholars representing a diverse array of disciplines with expertise in community-engaged research.
RESEARCH AND PROJECT ACTIVITIES. As part of building and/or enhancing CBPR skills and preparing for a future academic career, the Research Fellow will participate in training activities and work with various CERC faculty. The Research fellow will be responsible for taking the lead on CBPR activities of CERC faculty, including analyzing existing data, independently and in conjunction with CERC faculty, and disseminating results via manuscript submission and abstract presentation. The Research Fellow will be an integral member of our CERC/CTSA partnership and will attend and take an active role in key CERC partnership meetings. These include meetings with the CERC Mentoring Team and CBPR investigators who serve on various study-related teams. Other activities include: participation in one of the CERC Aim Teams, CITI certification for human subjects research; NIHMD Health Disparities Research Center and/or NCI Community Networks Program Center activities; and attend various symposiums and workshops offered at Meharry Medical College, Vanderbilt University, and other local universities.
SALARY: Commensurate with NIH salary guidelines for post-doctoral research fellows.
TRAVEL: Available for conference and related professional development expenses.
