A postdoctoral position in the area of therapeutic microbiology is available. The successful applicant will be responsible for identifying microbial communities and beneficial microbes that can be utilized to combat several different acute and chronic diseases.
Applicants with expertise in bacterial genetics, bioinformatics, and/or gastrointestinal physiology are encouraged to apply. The Britton laboratory is located within the Department of Molecular Virology and Microbiology and is affiliated with the Alkek Center for Metagenomics and Microbiome Research. The department and center have created a dynamic environment for conducting microbiome research and the successful applicant will have a wide variety to tools and expertise to conduct their research.
Essential duties: Anaerobic microbiology, bacterial genetics, lead projects aimed at identifying and engineering beneficial microbes/microbial communities. Some animal work may be required.
Minimum Education PhD or MD required.
Minimum Job Experience Previous experience in bacterial genetics, microbial ecology, microbial physiology, bioinformatics, and/or gastrointestinal physiology is preferred but not required.
