The Foundation for Research and Technology Hellas (FORTH – Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology) announces an opening for a postdoctoral fellow in the laboratory of Christos Delidakis to participate in the research programme "Is there a ubiquitin code in Notch signalling?" (UBICODE). This programme is funded by ARISTEIA II, which is part of the action "Education and Lifelong Learning" and is co‐ financed by the European Union (the European Social Fund) and national funds.
Position description Cell biological and functional characterization of signalling molecules of the Notch pathway in Drosophila using one of the following approaches: Generation of transgenic insects and histological analysis. Cell culture transfection and microscopy. Cell culture transfection and protein biochemical analysis. Qualifications Weight University Degree in Life or Physical Sciences (Biology, Medicine, Chemistry etc) 10% PhD and scientific publications on a related topic 20% Good use of computers 10% Excellent knowledge of English Experience in Drosophila genetics or tissue culture or protein biochemistry 25% Experience in Molecular and Cell Biology 20% Experience in cell/ tissue imaging, e.g. by confocal microscopy Participation in research programmes and/or personal scholarships 15% Scientific presentation and writing skills (English) Organizational skills and independent planning of work Contract Duration: 6 months maximum with earliest starting date Febrauary 2015.
