Position Summary:
The Oncology Sales Specialist will be responsible for developing and driving Oncology opportunities by translating deep domain expertise and product knowledge into compelling positioning, competitive and selling strategies to drive rapid adoption of Illumina solutions resulting in increased sales success. Working with TAMs and Sales Channel partners in both pre and post sales activities to develop key sales opportunities and to build a community of satisfied customers.

Main Responsibilities:
• Be the technical expert in their domain and voice of the customer to regional management, global product management and market development
• Working with TAMs to develop high value customer accounts in Greater China by utilizing deep domain knowledge, having the ability to discuss key relevant publications and supporting literature in great detail with key customers
• Make recommendations to sales management ways to approach the district market when a new clinical test becomes available or there is an opportunity to develop a lab developed test in a reference lab or other clinical/hospital setting
• Regularly communicate updates to senior management of in-district sales performance, forecast updates, and any issues related to their specific product line performance, competitor activities, or other issues emerging in assigned territory
• Pre-sales activity will include delivery of technical expertise during the sales process including demonstration to the customer and provide relevant clinical commentary to show best practice to our customers adopting Illumina solutions. Must therefore utilize extensive laboratory experience to demonstrate a capability of laboratory workflows and discuss with customers the corresponding value-add advantages of Illumina technology
• Provide engaging clinical presentations related to Oncology as required in assigned territories to drive market interest in Illumina technologies
• Be recognized by the Oncology community as a valuable invited speaker on domain topics and attend trade shows and conferences related to Oncology. Facilitate and drive the development of sales tools, and appropriate training for the sales team and Sales Channel Partners to support the Oncology business. Be a technical champion of Illumina’s solutions in these markets. This will include the reinforcement of strategic selling programs at Illumina, including the REAL and Just Negotiate frameworks. Regularly visit key assigned territories to implement selling strategy, tactics and driving key sales opportunities and market development related to Oncology products.
• Work with district/regional marketing and Customer Solutions to organize and execute User Group Meetings and seminars
• Assisting sales and field marketing on new strategic initiatives requiring both technical and market knowledge.
• Providing strategic and competitive feedback to field marketing.
• Escalation of technical issues to Technical Support for resolution.
• Developing and maintaining positive relationships with customers in assigned territory
• Assists, as time permits, with other business development activities.

All About You
Requirements:
• 5-8 years in a clinical testing laboratory environment
• Experience in clinical test development and adoption of new tests including creation of associated SOP and Quality standards
• Recognized deep technical expertise in oncology and genomic health testing methodologies
• Uses independent judgment in developing methods, techniques or evaluation criteria for obtaining results
• Independently works on highly complex problems requiring analysis of multiple variables
• Excellent demonstrated communication (verbal and written), presentation and training skills
• Strong negotiation skills and ability to persuade
• Proven ability to lead and influence a broad spectrum of constituents (internal stake holders, external stake holders and key opinion leaders in the field) with divergent interests in order to create a defined and focused course of action
• Experience across the geographic region a plus
• Must be willing to travel up to 60%
• Ability to travel within district and regionally to carry out primary responsibilities.

Educational:
• BSc or PhD in medical sciences or related genetics, molecular biology or biochemistry degree. Alternatively M.S. + 5 years experience
