Position Summary:

The Clinical Sales Specialist will ensure achievement of District's sales objectives, working with the Territory Account Managers, through the sales of Illumina’s product portfolio to Translational Genomic Institutions, and Consumer Genomics companies. Incorporate an entrepreneurial spirit to win new accounts and grow the Translational Genomics Market via strategic and tactical sales activities. Support the Territory Account Managers through territory business plans, customer visits, developing accounts, providing application and presentation resources. Provide regular reports on status of specific sales, potential market opportunities, market conditions, and competitor activities.

• Strong desire to win business and establish long term customer relationships
• Responsible for identifying and developing strong relationships with key regional thought leaders through strategic networking and independent research.
• Participates in strategic sales activities and works closely with local Territory Account Managers and District Sales Manager to achieve sales objectives.
• Interfaces with corporate product teams and field marketing to bring key technical product knowledge to the field.
• Reads, understands, and communicates key findings from current scientific genotyping and sequencing publications to sales team and customers.
• Presents technical seminars on Illumina Genotyping and Sequencing product lines.
Responsibilities:
• Work with Genomic Analysis business unit TAM counterparts within your assigned territory to enable there selling efforts into translational accounts.
• Effectively build a medium/long term sales pipeline and manage the necessary levels of sales leads and prospecting activity.
• Develop high-value, long-term profitable customer accounts through relationship building sales techniques.
• Assists sales and field marketing on new strategic initiatives requiring both technical and market knowledge
• Develop comprehensive knowledge of prospects including personnel and responsibilities, budgeting, internal politics, products and services, competition and market.
• Prepare and present compelling customer sales presentations and participate in all sales activities and assist with general customer demonstrations, training and support.
• Coordinate and communicate sales activities and strategies effectively to supervisors.
• Satisfy all product and technology training requirements as established by Sales management and the Training department.
• Assists Regional Sales Manager and Regional Account Managers with the development of customized territory plans – and follows territory plans to provide best return on sales territory and consolidation of travel – time management.
• Travel percentage will be approx ~50%

Requirements:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in clinical and/or translational sales.
• Master Degree or above in a scientific discipline (genetics, molecular biology or genomics.)
