Summary of Responsibilities: Coordinate activities of the Health Information System (HIS) within thefacilities of United Family Hospitals and Clinics.
• Participate with other clinical and management senior staff instrategic planning regarding information provision in BJU. • Set HIS Unit goals based on information strategic plan anddepartmental goals and monitor the goals • Ensure consistent HIS related practices in BJU, while appropriatelycustomizing each individual and the department within to meet the needsof its medical and administrative staff • Coordinate a collaborative process for the development of policies andprocedures related to HIS • Facilitate selection and implementation of health information systemcomponents and design and use of analytical methods to provideaccessible clinical and managerial data for purposes of peer review,performance improvement, credentialing, decision support, and otherinstitutional activities. • Monitor the health care landscape for best practices, effectivesystems and technology and recommend and facilitate their adoption inBJU. • Ensure the provision of all monthly, quarterly and annual statisticalreports as appropriate, either through the standard system or internallycustomized reports to authorized internal and external customers. • Maintain interface with clinical staff and other personnel to ensureeffective operation of the HIS; design systems and methods to make datamore accurate, complete and accessible. • Provide educational programs and hands on training in HIS to increaseefficiency of operations and supply of knowledgeable personnel. • Liaise with similar organizations, vendors, and governmental andregulatory bodies for the purpose of compliance and exchange ofexperience and data to measure and improve productivity in HIS. • Determine budget requirements and prepare budgetary recommendations;monitor, verify and reconcile expenditure of budgeted funds. • Direct and coordinate the establishment of schedules, task assignmentsand allocation of man hours to assure compliance with departmentalcommitments; plan and conduct meetings with subordinates to ensurecompliance with established practices, to implement new policies and tokeep employees abreast of current changes and standards. • Provide on call service to end user and teammate after work, and canbe on site when the situation is critical • Direct various personnel actions including, but not limited to,hiring, merit recommendations, and promotions. • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
• Minimum second degree in health information systems or sciences orother closely related discipline. • At least 3 years HIS support experience, or 5 year HIS related workexperience,medical related experience, such as doctor nurse arepreferred.
