This is an exciting opportunity for a clinical nurse with experience of acute medical or surgical wards to develop an interest in clinical healthcare innovation and biomedical research within a dynamic group of colleagues committed to translational research.
The post is in the Division of Surgery, in the Department of Surgery and Cancer, working with the Division of Computational and Systems Medicine at Imperial College London and based at St. Mary's Hospital, Paddington. The post is full time for a fixed term of 12 months in the first instance, reporting to Professor Zoltan Takats.
The post-holder will have a central role in a clinical trial of a technology known as the iknife funded by the NIHR Biomedical Research Centre. The aim of this project is to ensure better outcomes from surgical cancer treatments by ensuing that all cancer cells are removed. This work is being performed at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and the Royal Marsden Hospital. The post-holder will have the opportunity to work within a state of the metabolic phenotyping centre and to develop skills in translational basic science research.
Educated to degree level, you will be a registered nurse with extensive experience in a senior post within the NHS. No experience of basic science research is necessary. You will be able to work within a multidisciplinary team.
