A postdoctoral position is available to understand the mechanisms bywhich natural killer (NK) cells lyse macrophages infected with M.tuberculosis (J Immunol 168:3520?3526, 2002, J Immunol 172:130?137,2004, J Immunol 175: 4611?4617, 2005 and J Immunol 2006 177:6192-8).This National Institutes of Health-funded project will involveidentification of novel ligands for NK cell receptors and studyingsignaling pathways mediated through NK cells for the lysis of M.tuberculosis-infected cells. The other ongoing project in the laboratoryis the role of regulatory T cells in human tuberculosis infection. Thesuccessful candidate will work with Dr. Ramakrishna Vankayalapati.Several well-funded investigators are engaged in studying the immunologyand molecular pathogenesis of tuberculosis at the Center for Pulmonaryand Infectious Disease Control (CPIDC), working in brand-newstate-of-the-art laboratories that include a large BSL-3 facility.Information on the research interests of CPIDC faculty can be found at:

Applicants must have a strong background in cellular immunology.Experience in flow cytometry is highly desirable.
