The Inhalation Research Laboratory in the Department of ComparativeBiomedical Sciences at the Louisiana State University School ofVeterinary Medicine has one postdoctoral researcher position availablefor studying the role of acute and chronic pre- and postnatal exposuresto environmental toxins (volatiles and particulates) on lung responsesand on the development/exacerbation of respiratory and cardiac diseases.This position entails work with inhalation exposure, monitoring, andsampling systems. These include whole body and nose-only exposurechambers (cigarette smoke, petrochemical combustion products,environmental particulates, and volatile gases) and associatedanalytical equipment. Extensive microscopy, analytical chemistry, andmolecular biology services are available through the School ofVeterinary Medicine, including all of the resources needed forcytometry, genomics, and proteomics.
Required Qualifications: Ph.D. in biological or biomedical sciences orMD/DVM with equivalent training or experience. Candidate must have workauthorization for employment in the United States.
Additional Qualifications Desired: Experience in medicine, immunology,or toxicology; existing statistical skills, prior publication history,or previous inhalation related experience; excellent verbal and writtencommunication skills are important for expected collaborative efforts.
Responsibilities: conducts high quality research in the InhalationResearch Laboratory by participating in the planning, physicalimplementation, and analysis of the research programs; collaborates ingrant writing; develops and applies for funding of a personal research agenda.
An offer of employment is contingent on a satisfactory pre-employmentbackground check. Application deadline is August 31, 2007 or untilcandidate is selected.
