A postdoctoral position is available in Dr. Jin Wang’s group in the department of pharmacology at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) to work on developing novel cancer therapies and vaccines. The ideal candidate should have a Ph.D. degree in cell biology, virology, immunology or related fields.
Dr. Wang holds a faculty position in the Department of Pharmacology at Baylor College of Medicine and an adjunct faculty position in the Department of Bioengineering at Rice University. Dr. Wang is also a CPRIT Scholar for Cancer Research. BCM is located in the Texas Medical Center (TMC) in Houston, which is the largest medical center in the world, and is a top 25 medical school in the U.S. according to the 2011 ranking by US News. BCM Ranks 2nd in the nation in federal funding for research and development in the biological sciences at universities and colleges by the National Science Foundation. Our group will be the second chemistry group and the first group specialized in drug delivery at BCM. So there will be enormous exciting opportunities to collaborate and make an impact in biomedical research. In addition, the Texas Medical Center includes 14 renowned hospitals and two specialty institutions, three medical schools and six nursing schools, which provide many job opportunities for your spouse or demostic partner.
The research work will focus on developing novel therapies and vaccines for cancer and novel strategies for RNAi/gene delivery. The ideal candidate should have a Ph.D. degree in cell biology, virology, immunology or related fields. Applicants should have extensive experience in the techniques for molecular biology (western blotting, PCR, flow cytometry, nucleic acid extraction/ purification/detection etc.) and cell biology (mammalian cell culture, primary cell culture, cells manipulation, live cell imaging etc.). It would be more competitive if the candidate has experience in immunology techniques and assays, and animal handling (husbandry, injection, surgery etc). The candidate will join a dynamic interdisciplinary group and should be willing and able to communicate with people from different backgrounds, including chemistry, engineering and biology.
