Description
A three-year postdoctoral research post funded by the British Heart Foundation is available in the Cardiac Surgical Research Group (directed by Dr David Chambers) within the Cardiovascular Division of King’s College London (based at St Thomas’ Hospital).
The project concerns protection of the lung during cardiac surgery, and relates to the mechanisms and signalling pathways involved in deflation-induced lung injury and the potential protective efficacy of CO-releasing molecules. Applicants should hold, or expect to obtain, a PhD in a relevant discipline and be organised, enthusiastic team players. Experience in organ perfusion techniques would be an advantage as would a familiarity with respiratory physiology/pharmacology and molecular biology techniques.
This post is available for 3 years.
