Two Postdoctoral Fellows Influence of chromatin modifications on genome stability : Copenhagen N, Denmark

Science jobs from The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Protein Research - : job description

Title:
Two Postdoctoral Fellowships, Department of Disease Biology, Chromatin Structure & Function Group
Tenure:
Two years, with a possible extension depending on any previous employment as a postdoc at a Danish university.

Employment Conditions:
Employment will be in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement between the Danish Government and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). The position will be at the level of postdoctoral fellow and the salary depends on seniority, as agreed between the Ministry of Finance and AC, around 31.000-33.000 DKK /month (approximately 4.100-4.400 Euro/month or $65,000-69,000/year). Candidates will qualify for the expert tax scheme, which currently is 26% (+ 8% social fees) over a five-year period. After this period, normal Danish tax rules will apply. To the basic salary, a monthly contribution to a pension fund is added (17.1% of the salary), and a supplement could be negotiated, dependent on the candidate’s experiences and qualifications. In all cases, the ability to perform the job will be the primary consideration, and thus we encourage all – regardless of their personal background and status – to apply.

Background:
The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Protein Research (CPR ) at the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Copenhagen, has been established to promote basic and applied discovery research on human proteins of medical relevance. The Center comprises a wide range of expertise and skills, from in silico target identification, proteomics, high-throughput protein production, chemical biology and disease biology to protein therapeutics. Currently, we have recruited >130 staff members to our research groups and staff functions, and expect to expand to around 150 scientists in the near future.

The Chromatin Structure & Function Group within the Department of Disease Biology at CPR is led by Associate Professor Jeremy A. Daniel, who recently has moved from the USA . We aim to create a technically and internationally diverse and dynamic research environment with an emphasis on collaboration between group members and others in the community. Please find more information on our homepage:
www.cpr.ku.dk/groups/diseasebiology/chromatin_structure_and_function/

Project:
We are recruiting two outstanding, ambitious postdoctoral candidates with a strong background in biochemistry or genetics to join our group. The projects will focus on investigating how chromatin accessibility and post-translational modifications impact DNA repair/recombination and tumorigenesis using biochemistry and mouse genetics as key methods coupled with immunological, genomic, and proteomic approaches.

Qualifications required:
A PhD in biochemistry, genetics, immunology, cancer biology, or a similar field is required. Excellent publication record along with advanced experience in chromatin immunoprecipitation, generating/characterizing mouse models, flow cytometry, retroviral transduction, or cytogenetics will be considered distinct advantages. The successful candidates will be expected to drive their own research project, actively participate in laboratory meetings, and aim for research excellence.

The tentative start date is 1 May, 2012.

To apply:
In order to be taken into consideration for this position you must fill in an online evaluation form ( http://isis.ku.dk/eblanket/respondent/besvaranonym.aspx?evalid=7516 ). Furthermore you must also send your application by clicking “Apply online” below.
