Description
A post-doctoral position is available to assess the effect of physiologic stress on renal function during nitric oxide deficiency and to investigate renal cellular sodium chloride and calcium interaction using rodent models of hypertension. This project employs the combination of whole animal physiology, blood pressure telemetry, tissue culture, molecular, and cell signaling techniques for addressing renal injury and salt-induced hypertension.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary research environment in the Cardiovascular Disease Research Program at the Julius L. Chambers Biomedical/Biotechnology Research Institute at North Carolina Central University in Durham, North Carolina.
The ideal applicant has experience in animal models of hypertension and tissue culture, is well-trained in small animal surgery, has good communication skills, and has published in reputable journals.
