Salary in the range £31,300 - £39,920 per annum
Fixed term for up to 2 years
Imperial College London in collaboration with The Royal British Legion has established a multimillion pound Centre for the study of blast injuries ( www.imperial.ac.uk/blastinjurystudies ). The mission of this Centre is to improve the mitigation of injury and to improve and advance treatment, rehabilitation and recovery, thus increasing lifelong health and quality of life after blast injury. One of the defining features of the Centre will be the drive, support and push to technology transfer. This means that the Centre will have a strong focus on translation into clinical treatment and quality of life benefits for wounded personnel and veterans from the outset. In addition to this position the Centre is currently advertising PhD studentships, other Postdoctoral positions and Research Fellowships.
The purpose of this post is to lead on the development of computational models of injury, shock attenuation and load transmission of human tissue and mitigation systems, and of the interaction between human tissue and mitigation technologies. The objective is to further existing, and develop new, computational models and design experiments for their validation in order to investigate injury due to high loading rate events (such as solid blast) and its mitigation. The candidate will establish and foster collaborations with colleagues with expertise in appropriate specialties, including clinicians, and scientists.
