Description

A Postdoctoral Associate position is available immediately for an NIH-funded project to study the mechanism of cachectic muscle wasting associated with various inflammatory diseases. Based on previously published work (reference: FASEB J. 19: 362-70, 2005; J. Cell. Biochem. 100:960-969, 2007; Am J Respir Crit Care Med, 174:997-1002, 2006), the aim of the project is to elucidate novel signaling pathways that mediate the stimulation of specific gene expression within the ubiquitin-proteasome pathway by inflammatory mediators. The study will involve in vitro (cell culture) and in vivo (mouse) models of muscle atrophy. Highly motivated individuals with a recent Ph.D. degree and a working knowledge of cell and molecular biology are encouraged to apply.
