Project Description:

The Organic and Biological Mass Spectrometry Group at Oak Ridge National Laboratory at Oak Ridge, Tennessee has an immediate opening (October 1, 2007) for a post-doctoral associate with a strong interest in microbial physiology, microbial ecology and/or microbial-viral interactions to join our proteogenomics research team.

The primary responsibilities will involve sample preparation and LC-MS/MS analyses of microbial and viral samples collected directly from the natural environment, data analyses and direct interactions with biological and computational collaborators. No prior knowledge of liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry or informatics is needed but would be helpful. The suitable candidate will have a keen interest in understanding how microbes and viruses interact in their natural environments, a desire to work with large genomic and proteomic datasets and integrations of the two (proteogenomics) as sell as work closely with other members of the team. The position will be a one year position, renewable yearly, up to three years. Salary will depend on experience and range form 40-50K, benefits are included.

Qualifications:
Ph.D degree is required in Environmental and Marine Sciences, Chemistry, or Computer Sciences. Applicants cannot have received the most recent degree more than five years prior to the date of application and must complete all degree requirements before starting their appointment.
