Applications are invited for a post-doctoral researcher to work under the supervision of Professor Christopher Schofield and Dr Emily Flashman in the Chemistry Research Laboratory, and Professor Christopher Pugh in the Nuffield Department for Clinical Medicine, at the University of Oxford. The project is to develop highly potent and selective inhibitors for the HIF hydroxylases, a sub-set of Fe(II)/2-oxoglutarate dependent oxygenases involved in the human response to hypoxia. The position is funded by the British Heart Foundation and aims to develop inhibitors that can be used in the treatment of cardiovascular disease. The successful candidate should hold a PhD in a relevant subject area (or have submitted a PhD thesis prior to taking up the appointment), with significant experience in enzymology / protein biochemistry / cell biology. The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing, validating and conducting high-throughput assays for screening inhibitors with isolated proteins, and also for screening potent inhibitors in cell models.
