Description
The Molecular Pharmacology Unit is located in the Biomedical ResearchCentre, a Division of the University of Dundee Medical School atNinewells Hospital. The main focus of our research is to study thefunction and regulation of genes which determine the sensitivity ofcells to drugs and environmental chemicals. We have a particularinterest in employing genetic and transgenic technologies to optimisethe development and use of anti-cancer drugs in carcinogenesis.
The following position is available from Jan 1st 2008, for two years inthe first instance.
We are looking for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to work on variousaspects of Phase 1 and Phase 2 drug metabolising enzymes, employing avariety of transgenic models to determine the relationship betweenexpression of these proteins and tumorigenesis, and to use thisknowledge to optimise existing, and develop new, drug treatments. Abackground in drug metabolism, pharmacokinetics and/or molecularpharmacology would be advantageous. Possession of a Home Office PersonalLicence would be advantageous but not essential, as training can beprovided. Ideally, the applicant would also have bioinformaticsexperience, and be familiar with the relevant software and internetresources, including microarray analysis.
