A postdoctoral position is available in the Chakraborty lab for a highly enthusiastic and motivated individual to study inositol pyrophosphates and their biosynthetic enzymes in obesity and insulin resistance. IP6K1 deletion protects against weight gain and related metabolic parameters (Chakraborty et al. Cell, 2010, 143, 897; Chakraborty et al. Sci. Signal. 2011, 4, re1). Our laboratory currently explores the molecular mechanism/s by which inositol pyrophosphates regulate glucose and lipid homeostasis. The ultimate goal is to identify novel therapeutic targets for the treatment of obesity associated metabolic diseases like diabetes and atherosclerosis.
Position requirements: Candidates with a Ph.D. in molecular biology, biochemistry or cell biology are encouraged to apply. Expertise in primary tissue culture; immunohistochemistry; molecular biological and biochemical techniques is desirable. Candidates having experience of signaling pathways and their aberrations in metabolic diseases will be preferred.
Applicants should send CV, a summary of research experience and interests, and names, addresses, e-mail and telephone numbers of 3 references to: hollie@scripps.edu . Please reference “postdoctoral position, Chakraborty lab” in your submission.
