Description

The Bone Marrow Research Laboratories is a major research laboratory within the Melbourne Health organization. It’

s prime charter is to perform international quality research into hematopoiesis and mammalian development,

attracting peer reviewed funding with publication in the journals of the highest standing and translation of the

research, where possible in to improved health outcomes.

A research postdoctoral position is available at the Bone Marrow Research Laboratories, (Royal Melbourne Hospital,

University of Melbourne), Melbourne, Australia, to commence as soon as possible.

The research will focus on understanding the role of the Grainy head-like family of developmental transcription

factors in neural tube closure, skin barrier formation and wound repair. Available projects include analysis of

mouse knockout lines; analysis of GRHL dependent signalling pathways in neurulation and epidermal morphogenesis,

and the role of the GRHL factors in planar cell polarity. Opportunities for incorporating a broad range of

investigational approaches including transgenic mice as well as biochemical analysis of transcription factor

function are available.

Applicants should have a PhD or MD/PhD and background in developmental and molecular biology.

The University of Melbourne is a highly interactive environment with many state-of-the-are core facilities.

The appointment is for an initial period of 12 months due to funding.
