This is an exciting opportunity to perform cutting-edge research in an industry setting at our Cambridge, MA, USA site. The primary focus will be on mechanism of vascular flow dynamics with the ultimate goal of identifying novel targets for the treatment of atherosclerosis. The successful candidate will use both in vitro and in vivo assays to identify and evaluate the function of candidate genes that modulate endothelial response to flow-mediated pathways. The fellowship is for a single 3-year term.
Minimum requirements:
The candidate will possess a Ph.D. degree in Molecular biology or Biochemistry or related discipline and fewer than 3 years of postdoctoral training. The candidate will have experience in cell culture techniques, biochemical and cell-based assays. Hands on experience with basic molecular biology and biochemistry techniques such as cloning, transfection with plasmids and siRNA, PCR, RT-PCR, site-directed mutagenesis, RNA isolation, Western blots and immunoprecipitation are important.
Experience with in vivo animal models is a plus. Knowledge and experience in lipid and cardiovascular biology, and/or inflammation are strongly desired. Candidates must be able to work independently and also participate in team efforts. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and scientific creativity are essential.
