Job Description

College of Public Health � Chair, Department of Environmental Health The East Tennessee State University (ETSU) College of Public Health is seeking applications for a nationally recognized leader to serve as Chair in the Department of Environmental Health. ETSU has the only CEPH-accredited College of Public Health in Tennessee and has a rich history in environmental health with one of the oldest EHAC-accredited graduate programs in the United States. The College is one of five colleges in the Academic Health Sciences Center at ETSU. For over fifty years, the College has had a strong working relationship with a wide range of regional partners in northeast Tennessee and southwest Virginia and is a frequent partner with the community, local and state government and international organizations that are focused on providing public health training in areas of high need. An energetic and visionary leader is desired to continue with our considerable success in this arena.

With a strong regional focus, rich history and deep commitment to educational excellence, the department’s educational programs include the B.S.E.H. with concentrations in Environmental Health and Occupational Health and Safety, the M.S.E.H. and M.P.H programs in Environmental Health, and the PhD in Environmental Health Sciences. Applicants should have a terminal degree in environmental health, environmental engineering, toxicology, microbiology or a related field. They should also possess a professional history consistent with appointment as associate or full professor in the department. Demonstrated administrative and leadership experience commensurate with leading an academic department is required. Significant experience with extramurally funded research is required. Applicants must also have an interest in the broader implications of their research as it relates to environmental health policy and practice. Applicants with relevant professional certifications, such as CIH, DABT, REHS, PE and graduates of ASPH-member schools are encouraged to apply.
