Description
The Laboratory for Biological Systems & Chemical Engineering, located at the INSA (Nationale Institute for Applied Sciences),Toulouse, France, is a leading laboratory in the fields of microbialphysiology and biotechnology, including biocatalysis, microbialbiotechnology, and bioprocess technology. The development of innovativebiotechnological processes at the laboratory is driven by thecomprehensive understanding of the quantitative behaviour of cellularsystems (quantitative systems biotechnology).
The Laboratory invites applications for two postdoctoral positions inmetabolomics & fluxomics. The first position is open in the field ofmicrobial metabolomics, in the framework of a program aiming to attaincomprehensive understanding of the role of metabolic adaptation in thephysiology and virulence of various pathogenic micro-organisms. The workto be carried out in this project will mainly include the development ofinnovative mass spectrometry methods to unravel the metabolome ofmicrobial pathogens and the metabolic changes occurring when themicrobes are facing environmental or genetic perturbations.
The second position is open in the field of fluxomics, in the frameworkof a biotechnology program aiming to rationally improve cellular systemsfor the production of desired products or traits (metabolicengineering). The work to be carried out in this project will mainlyinclude the development of original NMR and MS methods for metabolicflux analysis (fluxomics), and their application to investigate theeffects of targeted genetic modifications.
Background
Candidates should have a PhD in biology, biochemistry, chemistry, or arelated field, with personal interest in metabolism and previousexpertise in one or more of the following fields: metabolomics, metabolic flux analysis, nuclear magnetic resonance, mass spectrometry, stable isotope studies of metabolism. The candidates should haveexceptional written and verbal communication skills, be self-motivated,and demonstrated productivity.
Contact
Applications should be made by sending Curriculum Vitae, a coveringletter and the name of three referees Prof. Jean-Charles Portais usingthe application form below.
