Description
The Institute of Physiology at the University of Würzburg invitesapplications for a postdoctoral (BAT IIa) position. Applicants will havea completed degree in biology, medicine or a related field in naturalsciences, good knowledge of basic molecular biology and/or proteinchemistry, and enthusiastic interest in cardiovascular research.
The overall goal of our projects is to characterise the significance andtherapeutic potential of the natriuretic peptides / cyclic GMP pathwayin the cardiovascular system. The multidisciplinary approach willutilize a variety of methods including molecular biology, biochemistryand functional analyses (e.g. conditional cell-restricted gene knockoutin mice / CreLoxP, cardiomyocyte and endothelial signalling, fluorometric calcium and pHi measurements, proteomics).
The project is part of a network of Würzburg scientists and cliniciansrepresenting four faculties and eleven institutes/clinics, linking theirexpertise and infrastructure for investigating the mechanisms ofcardiovascular cell-cell interactions, and molecular and functionalimaging of these interactions (see http://www.sfb688.de/). The Instituteof Physiology is part of this network and has been completely renewed, recently. It offers excellent laboratory space and modern techniqueswhich allow answering scientific questions in an interdisciplinary way.
Recent work from our lab can be found in: Holtwick et al., J ClinInvest, 2003, 111:1399-407; Kilic et al., Circulation 2005, 112:2307-17; Sabrane et al., J Clin Invest 2005, 115:1666-74; Yurukova etal. Cardiovasc Res. 2007;73:678-88.
