Description
Topic: Mechanisms of gene control in mouse embryonic stem cells
We have been interested in RNA polymerase II transcription networks andthe mechanisms underlying the control of class II genes. Within a newlyestablished framework of a European integrated program (EUTRACC) we arenow seeking an interested individual to study the nature and function ofregulatory and accessory transcription factor complexes in mouse EScells. The study will involve the generation of recombinant ES celllines followed by the isolation of protein complexes, thecharacterization of protein complexes in solution both by biochemicalmeans and MS and analysis of measurement of factor distribution onchromosomes using ChIPchip and ChIP-Seq. Core technologies will bedeveloped and provided by the network.
The postdoctoral position (E13) is available for three years startingApril 2008 at the newly established Institute of Tumor Biology at theUniversity of Muenster.
We are seeking a talented and motivated individual with a completed PhDin Biology/biochemistry preferably with experience in cell biology of EScell and/or protein biochemistry/molecular biology (proteinpurification, ChIP).
Depending on successful applications for external grants the developmentinto an independent program is generally encouraged following thecontracting period.
The Institute of Tumor Biology is part of the Medical Faculty of theUniversity (WWU) of Muenster. The institute and the university areoffering a stimulating attractive environment and an internationalatmosphere. We closely collaborate with the stem cell biology at theMax-Planck Institute ibid. The WWU is among the five largest in Germany.Muenster, the capital of Westphalia situated in the North-west ofGermany, has recently been elected the most livable city in the country.
