The MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology is a world famous institutionwith a strong track record in training postdoctoral fellows who havegone on to become leading scientists.
We are looking for four Postdoctoral Scientists to join Dr Jason Chin’spioneering research programme, which focuses on innovative approaches toengineering cellular translation (see Nature Biotech. (2007), 25,770& Nature Chem. Biol. (2008), 4, in press). Dr Chin’s cutting-edgework has gained international recognition and has been selected forfunding by the prestigious European Research Council, which supportsinvestigator-driven frontier research.
You will join our strong inter-disciplinary team at the LMB’s Proteinand Nucleic Acid Chemistry Division. We have broad expertise extendingfrom x-ray crystallography and chemical biology through to transgenicanimals. We also have an excellent record of innovative basic researchleading to applications in medicine.
Postdoctoral Molecular Biologists (3 posts)

You will make a significant contribution to a project, which will evolvethe macromolecular machinery of cells to perform new functions, tocharacterize the evolved machinery, and to develop applications of theevolved machinery. You will have a PhD degree in molecular biology andsignificant experience with biological methods, which may includedirected evolution, cell biology, biochemistry, synthetic biology,protein purification methods or biophysical methods.
Successful applicants will be awarded a 2.5 year MRC Career DevelopmentFellowship, which is a training and development position for apostdoctoral scientist who has recently completed their doctoral studiesor is moving into a new research discipline.

The starting salary will be in the range of £25,368 – £26,953 per annumand is supported by a flexible pay award policy, 6 weeks annual leaveand public holidays, optional MRC final salary pension scheme andexcellent onsite sports and social facilities.
