Science Foundation Ireland, (SFI) the national foundation for excellencein scientific research is investing in academic
researchers and research teams who are most likely to generate newknowledge, leading edge technologies, and competitive
enterprises.
SFI has a flexible grants and awards portfolio and several times a yearissues calls for proposals from scientists and
engineers. SFI also accepts unsolicited proposals throughout the year.SFI’s award programmes include:
Principal Investigator Programme
for outstanding researchers, normally ranging between €50,000 – €1million per year and may be up to five years in
duration.
Research Professor Recruitment Awards
for outstanding researchers, with particularly distinguishedinternational reputations, awards normally ranging up to
€500,000 per annum for up to two years.
E.T.S. Walton Visitor Awards
supporting leading international scientists who visit Ireland toundertake research for up to one year, normally ranging up
to €200,000.
President of Ireland Young Research Awards (PIYRA)
attracting to Ireland and supporting Irish researchers within five yearsof completing their PhD, normally up to €1 million
over five years.
Positions with SFI
SFI Scientific Programme Officers
As a Scientific Programme Officer you will be a key decision makerwithin the Foundation and will have responsibility for
managing a portfolio of scientific investments made by SFI. In managingthe peer-review process you will be required to
interact with international researchers at the highest level. Candidatesmust possess a relevant PhD together with five
years experience beyond the PhD in academia or industry.
