Description
NETHERLANDS INSTITUTE FOR NEUROSCIENCE
The Netherlands Institute for Neuroscience (NIN) is an institute of theRoyal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW). Its main activityis fundamental and strategic scientific research in the field of theneurosciences, with an emphasis on brain research and research of thevisual system
Within the Dept. Retinal Signal Processing, headed by Prof. Dr. M.Kamermans, positions are available for
Postdocs in visual neuroscience
The projects include: 1) Mechanism and function of lateral inhibition inthe outer retina; 2) Contribution of outer retinal lateral inhibition tothe surround responses of ganglion cells and the visual performance ofthe whole animal; 3) Information coding in the outer retina and itsconsequences for color vision; and 4) The role of connexins andpannexins in retinal processing.
The lab is strongly multidisciplinary and has a background inelectrophysiology, morphology, molecular biology, computational modelingand behavioral essays. The group makes extensive use of the wild-typeand transgenic zebrafish.
Candidates with expertise in patch clamping, two-photon imaging orzebrafish genetics are strongly encouraged to apply. Knowledge of thevisual system is highly appreciated.
The postdoc positions involve a temporary appointment for 4 years.
