Description
The Dodson Institute is dedicated to the development of high-impact andbroadly useful immune-based treatments focusing on cancer, infectiousdiseases, autoimmunity and transplantation.
RNA therapeutics. To develop aptamer and aptamer-siRNA chimaeras astherapeutic agents to modulate immune responses in patients. Twopositions are available:
Position 1: Design of aptamers, siRNAs, and aptamer-targeted siRNAsagainst therapeutic targets. Experience in general molecular biologytechniques and cell culture is mandatory; experience with murine models, protein biochemistry, RNA interference and/or aptamers, is desirable.
Position 2: Develop novel aptamer selection methods employing analyticaltools including capillary electrophoresis separation techniques;experience in organic or analytical chemistry and work with protein orRNA is mandatory.
Cancer. To develop methods to stimulate potent immunity by vaccination, manipulating costimulation, and by overcoming tumor-induced immunesuppression. Two positions are available:
Position 1: Develop strategies to potentiate CD4+ T cell immunity.Experience in cell biology is mandatory; experience in subcellularprotein trafficking and cellular immunology is desirable.
Position 2: Develop strategies to overcome tumor-induced immunesuppression. Experience in cellular immunology is mandatory; experienceusing small animal models is desirable.
Tolerance. To develop methods for the selective elimination ofautoreactive T cells using novel reagents based on RNA aptamers andaptamer-siRNA chimaeras to induce T and B cell tolerance. Experience ingeneral molecular biology techniques and cell culture is mandatory;experience in cellular immunology is desirable.Applicants must havecompleted a PhD, MD or equivalent degree. Only candidates with anextensive and relevant track record of productivity will be considered.
