Description
The Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute has an expanding scientificprogramme dedicated to using natural and experimental genetics tounderstand the role of genes in health and disease.
The team studies malaria parasites in rodent models to understand basicparasite biology and pathogen-host-interactions. We also seek toidentify new ways of identifying and evaluating targets for drug andvaccine development.
As part of a collaborative initiative funded by the UK Medical ResearchCouncil, the successful applicant will carry out original research withthe aim of prioritising malaria drug targets among parasite protein kinases.
We are looking for a highly motivated and independent individual, whocan demonstrate skills in protein biochemistry and is keen to combinethese with genetic and bioinformatics approaches to define new routestowards rational drug target evaluation.
Postdoctoral Fellows are typically in their first or second postdoctoralposition as part of a period of early career research training. This isup to 3 year fixed-term contract.
Salary range for this position is £27,316 to £36,951 dependent on experience
