Postdoctoral Research Associate (reference 14008)
Based in the Henry Wellcome Laboratories for Integrative Neuroscienceand Endocrinology (HW-LINE, University of Bristol, Bristol, UK) you willinvestigate the regulation of extracellular GABA in the hippocampus andthe role of extracellular GABA in behavioural states. You will applymicrodialysis, EEG monitoring, behavioural analysis and HPLC withelectrochemical detection.
This post is funded by a newly awarded Wellcome Trust research grant“Regulation of tonic currents through changes in extracellular GABA” toProfessor Matthew Walker (Institute of Neurology, London), ProfessorAlexey Semyanov (Riken Brain Science Institute, Japan) and Dr AstridLinthorst (University of Bristol). The project will also fund a postdocwho will be based in the Institute of Neurology, UCL, London and willwork on in-vitro aspects of the project, under the management ofProfessor Walker, with whom close collaboration will be expected. Youwill join a friendly and enthusiastic team working in thestate-of-the-art Dorothy Hodgkin Building which accommodates HW-LINE.You should have a PhD, or equivalent, in a relevant life sciencesubject. You should have experience in in-vivo methods, preferably inmicrodialysis. Experience in HPLC with electrochemical detection, EEGrecording and behavioural analysis would be desirable. Furthermore, youshould have good written and oral communication skills.
