The Division of Synthetic and Systems biology at the Helmholtz Centrefor Infection Research in Braunschweig Germany invites applications for
Postdoctoral and PhD student positions
Activity:
Within the scope of several international research projects, theknowledge of dynamic functions and interactions within and betweenmicrobes is to be expanded. This is also in the context of the microbialenvironment and host. The information obtained is to be used to pioneerinnovative applications in biomedicine and industry, to developsynthetic and systems biology tools and to design artificial biologicalsystems with new properties.
Prerequisite:
We are looking for highly motivated scientists that hold an MSc or PhDin Bioinformatics, Biology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Genetics,Physics, Bioengineering or other Life or Engineering Sciences.
Teams will be established combining a modeler and an experimentalist.Applicants for a position as modeler should possess, in addition to aninterest in biology, strong skills in programming, mathematics,statistics, algorithm development, database administration as well asexperience in modeling and simulations. Applicants for a position asexperimentalist should have a solid basis in molecular microbiology,genetics and biochemistry. Experimentalists should also have previousexposure to synthetic and systems biology as well as to modeling ofmetabolic networks.
The successful candidates should be able to work independently in aninterdisciplinary environment.
Starting date: Positions are available immediately or within the nextsix months
Duration: Postdoctoral positions: 1 to 3 years with the possibility of extension
PhD student positions: initial contract for 2 years with the possibilityof extension for a third year
Salary: Postdoc: TVöD E 13 + supplemented to E 14 PhD student: TVöD E 13/2
