Description
Postdoctoral position is available for a highly motivated individual in the Department of Medicine at Boston University School of Medicine to study hepatocyte metabolism regulation and cancer development.
Our research teams are investigating novel molecular signals governing hepatocyte energy metabolism and cancer development using mouse models and cellular and molecular biological approaches. A better understanding of these mechanisms would define novel drug targets for treating diabetes and cancer. We are particularly interested in exploring the role of AMP-activated protein kinase in the regulation of hepatocyte lipid metabolism in diabetes (J Biol Chem. 2008, 283:20015; 2004, 279:47898; Diabetes. 2006, 55:2180).
Seeking candidates interested in dissecting the molecular mechanisms of hepatocyte energy metabolism in the development of diabetes and cancer. Successful candidates will have in-depth experience in signaling transduction, biochemistry, and cancer. In addition, strong experience with a broad panel of molecular and cell biology is required (e.g. transfection and adenoviral transduction of expression or shRNA constructs, and fluorescence microscopy).
