Description
A funded postdoctoral position is available to study retinal cell typeand circuit specification using genetic and genomic approaches. Ourlaboratory is located in the Friedrich Miescher Institute for BiomedicalResearch in Basel. We combine electrophysiological, imaging, molecularbiological, genetic, and behavioral approaches to understand how neuralcircuits and cell types are specified and function in normal retinas aswell as in retinal degeneration. We are looking for a highly motivatedscientist with a very strong background in molecular biology, mousegenetics and genomics.
The FMI is an independent research center with 300 members pursuingfundamental research in Neurobiology, Cell Growth and Signaling, andEpigenetics. Core funding is supplied by the Novartis ResearchFoundation and is supplemented by grants from national and internationalagencies. A competitive salary and access to state-of-the-art researchfacilities will be provided. The FMI is situated in Basel, Switzerland,a city offering an outstanding scientific and cultural environment, andwas recently voted the best institute for postdoc work in Europe.
