Research Lecturers in Biosciences and the Environment
A major investment by the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales (HEFCW) has led to the formation of the Biosciences and Environment Alliance (BEA) between Bangor and Aberystwyth Universities. A cohort of new Research Lecturers is being recruited to work within this new collaborative research framework. The overall vision of BEA is to establish in Wales a world leading, science led, research, training, education and enterprise cluster to address 21st century grand challenges, particularly climate change and food security.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the following research position:
• Environmental Microbiology and Biogeochemistry of Soils/Sediments. Preference will be given to candidates employing modern approaches such as molecular biological and/or isotope ratio mass spectrometry to major questions such as the fate of carbon and nutrients in soil/sediment systems. Applications are welcome from aquatic and terrestrial scientists. Post ref: 09-8/167.
The position are research focussed with light teaching loads. Successful candidates will be expected to develop collaborative research links across the BEA partnership with Aberystwyth University.
The post will be tenable from October 2009 for a four year period in the first instance (subject to review in the event of further funding becoming available).
Salaries will be in the range £29,705 – £37,651 per annum for Lecturer 1.
