Description
A unique new Post-Doctoral Research position will be available beginning on September 30, 2009, to train in the area of translational behavioral and cognitive neuroscience using non-human primate models. The primary research focus will be to evaluate behavioral, cognitive, and neurochemical consequences of metabolic disturbances associated with Type 2 diabetes and aging. In addition to behavioral and cognitive models, the project will include primate metabolic profiling, neuroimaging (MRI/MRS), and in vitro neurochemical analyses. Other research areas available to the trainee include psychopharmacology of GABAergic modulators and cognitive aging. The Post-Doctoral Research Fellow will be part of an interdisciplinary team including researchers at the New England Primate Research Center, the Joslin Diabetes Research Center, and the Neuroimaging Center at McLean Hospital. A Ph.D. or similar degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, or related discipline is required; experience with non-human primate research is desirable but not necessary.
