Description

The Institut des Sciences du Végétal (ISV, http://www.isv.cnrs-gif.fr/veranglais/index.html) belongs to the CNRS (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique) and is associated with the Universities Paris Sud 11 (UPS11) and Paris-Diderot (UPD-P7) and is located close to Paris, France. The ISV will make available 50 m2 of equipped laboratory space to receive a new group in 2010. Current research at ISV aims at understanding the molecular mechanisms of plant growth and development, and unravelling the regulation of these processes by endogenous or exogenous signals from biotic or abiotic origins. ISV is one of the 10 research units from the “Centre de Recherche du CNRS in Gif-sur-Yvette”, an ensemble of more than 900 persons working on the main biological functions, from microbes to humans including plants and animals, and their alterations in numerous pathologies. These research units benefit from shared resources issued from different technological poles on the campus: functional genomics, cell biology, structural biology and proteomics, chemistry and pharmacology (https://www.imagif.cnrs.fr/).

This announcement is open to groups or junior scientists working in all areas of plant sciences or wishing to use plants as models to target fundamental biological mechanisms. Applications should include a curriculum vitae of the candidate, a complete list of his/her publications, a brief description of his/her previous research, a research project for a period of four years, its requirements in equipment and surface area, and the names of three appropriate scientific references knowing the candidate. The application should not exceed ten pages. ISV will provide support for the selected candidate in applying to different calls for proposals to raise complementary funding for his(her) installation. In particular, a candidate lacking a permanent post in France, will be assisted to apply for a permanent position within CNRS (deadline beginning of January 2010).
