Description
The person filling this position will perform research on the intestinal immune system. Examples of ongoing projects include he characterization of the functional adaptations of intestinal macrophages and their role in inflammatory disorders of the intestine, the contribution of “unconventional” T cell subsets in maintaining local tissue homeostasis, and the consequences of T-cell – epithelial cell interactions under physiological, and inflammatory conditions. Assistance in supervising undergraduate students is desirable.
Experiments are conducted in mouse models (in vitro and in vivo) and with clinical samples from patients with inflammatory bowel diseases.
The position is for a two year period (renewable). Starting date: negotiable.
Applicants must hold a recent Ph.D. degree from an accredited institution, preferably in immunology or closely related areas. The position requires an excellent scientific background in immunology/inflammation and prior experimental experience with flow cytometry, cell cultures and gene expression profiling. Experience in working with mouse models of disease is highly desirable.
