Description
Ulm University is inviting applications for an enthusiastic, highly motivated Post-Doc in the field of cancer stem cells and apoptosis.
In our multidisciplinary and international research group (group leader: Prof. Simone Fulda), we study apoptosis signaling in cancers to identify key molecules for the development of new cancer therapeutics and novel prognostic biomarkers (e.g. see Nat Med, 2002, 8:808-15; Cancer Res, 2008, 68:7956-65; Blood, 2009, 113:1710-22).
The current project will focus on the elucidation of apoptosis pathways in cancer stem cells derived from malignant brain tumors using primary tumor samples, cancer stem cell lines and mouse tumor models.
Benefits:
The position will be paid according to established scales for Post-Docs (TV-L E13 100%).
Successful applicants have the opportunity to participate in (inter)national research networks on apoptosis that are coordinated by the project leader, e.g. an EU-funded Marie Curie Research Training Network, an EU-funded large-scale project and a DFG-funded clinical research group.
The position can be filled immediately, initially for 2 years with the possibility to extend for additional years.
Ulm is a flourishing city with a picturesque Old Town, situated in the middle between Stuttgart and Munich directly at the river Danube. It is known as the birth place of Albert Einstein and for having the tallest church in the world.
Requirements:
A PhD or an equivalent doctoral degree.
Publications in peer-reviewed international journals.
A strong background in molecular biology, cancer biology and stem cell biology.
Applicants from outside the European Union should have previously worked or studied in Europe.
Application Procedure:
After checking if you comply with the requirements listed above, please send your application including CV and 2 references (name, e-mail, phone) preferentially by e-mail to:
Mr. Nicolas Marschall, Nicolas.Marschall@uniklinik-ulm.de
Ulm University, Children’s Hospital, Eythstr. 24, 89075 Ulm, Germany
Receipt of applications will be confirmed on request only. Due to the high number of applicants, we cannot send letters of refusal to those who have not been chosen.
