The Georg-Speyer-Haus in Frankfurt am Main is an Institute of great tradition in German biomedical sciences. It maintains the status of an independent foundation, but is connected to the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University via a cooperation agreement. The Institute carries out basic research in the field of tumor biology and the biology of infectious diseases. A postdoctoral position is available in the group of Bernd Groner for work on new experimental strategies in cancer therapy.
Our group has been investigating the mechanism of action of cytokines and growth factors and has defined Stat3 and Stat5 as essential oncogenes in solid tumors and leukemias. We are investigating new anti-tumor therapies and have derived highly specific and efficient peptide based inhibitors of these transcription factors. These compounds will be further developed into useful drugs.
The position is initially funded for two years and can be filled immediately. Applicants should have a solid background in protein chemistry, molecular and cellular biology. Please address the correspondence to:
