Description:
Postdoctoral Scientist (Molecular Immunology)
A 2 yr postdoctoral position is available to study the role of Toll-like receptors in the pathogenesis of Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) and Osteoarthritis (OA). Toll-like receptors (TLRs) are innate immune receptors that are activated by pathogens and endogenous ligands, instigating proinflammatory cytokine production. Inappropriate activation of TLRs may give rise to chronic inflammatory diseases including RA and OA. The current project will aim to characterise the molecular mechanisms involved in the potentiation of the inflammatory loop associated with these prevalent arthropathies. A particular focus will be directed towards the understanding the role of sterile inflammatory mediators in arthritis.
Applications are sought from highly motivated committed individuals with a PhD in cell biology, biochemistry, immunology or a related discipline. A strong research background in cell signalling and/or molecular immunology would be advantageous. Expertise in ‘state of the art’ proteomics would be advantageous.
