An NIH-funded postdoctoral position is available immediately to work in the area of cell signaling in palate development. Current studies involve the biochemical and molecular aspects of TGF-beta signaling during palate development.
The candidate will perform a variety of molecular genetics laboratory services including the isolation and analysis of DNA specimens, DNA, sequencing, recombinant DNA manipulations involved in map-based cloning and genotyping, gene vector construction, standard biochemical analyses, such as cell and tissue culture, mRNA and protein expression, mobility shift assays, and gene activity assays. In addition, it is essential that the candidate has experience with mouse tissue/organ culture and immortalization of primary cells. Candidate is expected to have prior mouse/rat handling experience.
Requirements include a PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry or genetics and 2-4 years experience in a research laboratory and the ability to work independently. Previous experience in analysis of cell signaling and regulation of gene expression, cell biology, protein chemistry and solid background in molecular biology are highly desirable. Individuals from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
