Description
The successful candidate will work with Associate Professor AnnGoodchild, School of Advanced Medicine, on an NHMRC funded project: “Therole of G-alpha proteins and their effectors (AC, PLC, rho and MAPK) incentral cardiovascular regulation in health and disease”. This is ahighly integrated project exploring the aims using a range of techniquesincluding physiology, telemetry, histochemistry and molecular biology.
The successful applicant will work on the physiological aspects of thisexciting project using target specific drugs in a fully integrativewhole animal preparation.
Essential Selection Criteria: PhD (or submitted) in Physiology, Anatomy,Biology or equivalent qualification or research assistant with minimumof two years Neuroscience / Physiology experience; demonstrated abilityto work hard; demonstrated productivity in the form of a publicationrecord; ability to work as a member of a team.
Highly Desirable Selection Criteria: Experience in physiologicalmeasurement, preferably including nerve activity; experience in smallanimal surgery; sound knowledge of intracellular signalling pathways;demonstrated proficiency in computing, particularly data and signalprocessing; demonstrated excellence in written and oral communication skills.
The position is available on a full-time (fixed-term) basis for a periodof 2 years and may be subject to probationary conditions. Selectioncriteria must be addressed in the application.

The appointment is currently governed by the terms of the MacquarieUniversity Enterprise Agreement 2006-2009.
